Term Life Insurance Policies, at a glance

Term Life insurance plans are designed to last a predetermined amount of time. The contracted years are generally 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 year plans. At the end of the Term period the policy will expire and the life insurance coverage ends. There is no cash value or return of premiums.

In contrast you can purchase a whole life insurance plan. These plans are designed a life time thus the name Whole Life Insurance. To read more about these plans click HERE

What are the rates of No Medical Exam plans and Full Medical Exam plans?

As you might have guessed the premiums for a No Medical Exam  Life insurance plan can be higher. However, there are certain carriers that can be very competitive in certain age brackets and working with those with minor health impairments.

Most No Medical exam plans have a maximum issue amount of between $250,000 and $350,000.

Let’s look at one of my carriers, American National Life ( ANICO) and see how they stack up to a full medically underwritten plan

40 years old , non smoking male, minor impairments ( High Blood Pressure and/or Cholesterol) , Calif resident: $250,000 Face Amount at a 20 year term.

As you can see there is a difference of around $6.00 a month. Is this enough of savings to make you want to do a full medical exam? That decision is up to you. For the time line to get a full medical exam application completed, about 6-8 weeks,  you can generally have a No medical plan, as long as everything checks out, in place in about half the time.

The exam, which will be of no cost to you, involves a basic exam which consists of:

The entire process takes about 20 or 30 minutes. They will come to your home or office and generally can accommodate most schedules.
